PESSIMISTS' EVIL WORK. A PAPER'S REBUKE. Received Nov. 2, 8.35 p.m. London, Nov. 2. The Daily Chronicle, under the heading '•Pessimists' Evil Work," emphasises the mischief done in the overseas dominions by the unrestrained outburst of the anti-Government forces in Britain, ITEMS OF INTEREST. AN UNTRUE ALLEGATION. Received Nov. 2, 8.40 p.m. London, Nov. 1. Already there are two hundred British nurses in Serbia. The Daily News Parliamentary correspondent says that the Government has created a new general staff. London, Nov. 1. The English woman, a correspondent of a London newspaper, who originated the statement that Australasian soldiers were sleeping on the Embankment, owing to delay in receiving their pay, has informed the High Commissioner that after making full inquiries she is convinced that the allegation is untrue. Scotland Yard states that no Australian or New Zealand soldier has ever been seen shelterless.
