A lire at the Otaki IToapitul this afternoon resulted in the destruction of a five-roomed annexe of the- main building. It comprised porters' and maids' rooms and store rooms. Tile porter is said to have gone out, leaving a small fire in the grate, sparks from which apparently fell and ignited the woodwork. ' SCHOOL RESIDENCE DESTROYED. Carterton, Last Night. The Carrington school residence was destroyed by lire at 2.o'clock this morning. Nothing was siivcd.
