They will do only light training till the day of the fight. An open -arena has been constructed to seat 17,000. The betting is two to one on Johnson. THE NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. TIMARU CHAMPIONSHIPS. Timaru, Last Night. At the South Canterbury championship meeting to-night there was a large attendance. Results:—Feather weight: Bennetts (Timaru) heat Thomas (Winchester); Bennetts beat Smith (Winchester). Light weight: McGrath (Timaru) beat Vernall (Winchester); !McGrath beat Shutt (Timaru). Middle weight: Riley (assumed name) Timaru, [beat Collins (Winchester); Riley beat Gillespie. Welter weight: Scott' (Winchester) beat Scott (Geraldine). Heavy weight: Fitzsimmons (Timaru) beat Langford (Winchester).
