THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
CEASELESS BALLOTING. BRYAN KICKS AGAINST THE PRICKS. A RIOT IN THE CONVENTION. By Cable—Pres* Association—Copyright. Received 3, 12.15 a.m. Baltimore, July 2. Ceaseless balloting marked the entire session. Wilson is slowly increasing his lead. At the thirty-fifth ballot the result was: Wilson 494, Clark 433. A remarkable demonstration was made when the Indiana, Michigan, Vermont, lowa and Maine delegates successively broke for Wilson. There were riotous scenes when Missouri displayed' a flaring banner emblazoned "Absolutely incorruptible and above reproach," which was Bryan's eulogy of Clark, in 1910. Bryan, livid with rage, rushed on the platform and protested. The .audience shouted him down and the police interfered to quell several free fights in the body of the hall.
