EMPIRE PICTURE FALACE. Last night the star 'attraction at the Empire Picture Palace was the McVeaLangford fight, which took place at Sydney on Boxing Day. The fight went the whole twenty rounds and was bitterly contested throughout, the verdict ultimately going to McVea on points. The whole scene was vividly enacted last night, every motion of the two champions being clearly portrayed. One feature that struck even the uninitiated was the vast amount of hugging indulged in, and also the extraordinary energy that has to be displayed by areferee, in this case, Snowy' Baker, in separating two such burly boxers. TonigVit this film will be submitted to ft Waitara audience, and it is safe to say that the hall will be packed to the doors. The usual bi-weekly change of programme will be submitted at the Empire Theatre to-night, when the powerful Lubin dramatic story, "A Just Verdict." will be shown for the firs time. This dramatic masterpiece is a thrilling example of the powers of the front rank actors and actresses of the present day, and shows the terrible position in which circumstantial evidence may place an innocent person. Never for a moment is the interest allowed to flag, and the picture easily ranks as one of the season's greatest successes. "Ocean, Thou Mighty Monster," is a wonderful scenic picture that the maker could not havo given a more appropriate title. The* popular Selig Company are represented with a sensational Western romance entitled "A Romance of the Rio Grande." in which the audience is treated to an exhibition of wild riding and driving that will not fail to prove popular. The usual number of comic, dramatic and scenic items complete a first-class programme.
