HYDRO-ELECTRICAL SCHEME
ENGLISH ENGINEER APPOINTED. By Telegraph.—Preeg Association Wellington, Last Night. The Government hafr appointed Mr. ' Evan Parry, electrical engineer, of Lon- '; don, as engineer in charge of the hydro- i electrical works about to be carried out * by the State. There were 107 appli* cations received in England for the position, and sixteen, in New Zealand. Mr. Parry is forty-five years of age, and occupies a high position in his profession, having had wide experience in hydroelectrical undertakings and the preparation of plans. He is now associated with Dr. Horace Parshall, consulting engineer. The salary is to be £BOO, the appointee to pay his own expenses of transit to New Zealand, and to be suhjeot to the Superannuation and Classification Act. The position of assistant electrical engineer is to be filled by Mr. L. Birks, . at present : engineer in charge at Rotonia. Mr. Parry is expected to reach New Zealand in a couple of months.
