The Union.Company's cargo Bteamer Rosamond, Which arrived at Wellington this afternoon, had an adventurous experience in the gale on Saturday and Sunday in Cook Strait. She left New Plymouth at noon on Saturday, and while struggling against the gale at 7 o'clock on Sunday morning the after ballast tank burst, and the water emptied into the Hlges. At noon on Sunday t ireakdown occurred in the engine-room, and for flv« hours the vessel rolled helplessly in the troughs of mountainous seas. Temporary repairs enabled the vessel to crawl to a haven under Stephen's Island. At 7 o'clock on Monday morning the Rosamond wag able to continue her way to Wellington.
