THE ARMY ESTIMATES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, February 24. The Army Estimates total £-27,090,000, the personnel being 180,400, an increase of 2200 on last year. Of the above sum £85,000 is to be devoted to aviation. Five aeroplanes are available lor the Army, and it is hoped a second large Lebandy and another of medium size will be ready for the summer.
AN ELECTION PETITION. London, February 24. The Mile End election petition against the election by two votes of the Hon. H. L, W. Lawson has been abandoned. BRITISH SEAMEN. London, February 24. Mr. S. Buxton, President of the Board of Trade, has promised to consider arequest by a deputation from the National Committee for Training British Seamen to grant State aid to encourage shipowners to carry indentured boys. THE VETO BILL DENOUNCED. CABINET DOMINEERED FROM WITHOUT. Received 27, 12.25 a.m. London, February, 26. i The Duke of Bedford, speaking at Bedford, denounced the Veto Bill. He said the parties in power were the Nationalists and Laborites, fundamentally differing from each other, yet controlling the Cabinet from without. He hoped the Lords would introduce a clause preserving the double-chamber Government intact. Otherwise he preferred to see the creation of 600 puppet peers.
