The Manchester Guardian states that Australia intends proposing at the Imperial Conference to ask the Governments to promise Bills of ordinance, throughout the Empire preventing conspiracies to defeat the laws in other parts of the Empire, particularly the evasion of shipping laws, income tax, excise, and Customs. THE NATIONAL WELCOME. Received 17, 10.20 p.m. London, February 17. Unionists urge the Government to invite the leaders of the Opposition, Laborites, and Home Rulers to the opening of the Imperial Conference, to enable oversea members to fairly realise the national welcome.
