Lieutenant Peary re-told the story of his Polar journey before the House of Representatives Committee charged with deciding whether Teary is entitled to Congressional honors. Peary declared that he covered twenty-five miles daily in the final dash for the Pole, and thirty miles on the last day. He asserted that his Polar observations would not stand the test unless they were genuine.
