A PAPAL DECREE

RESENTED AT BELFAST. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 6, 10.50 p.m. London, January 0. Six thousand Protestants at Belfast held a demonstration against the Papal decree concerning mixed marriages. The Moderator of the General Assembly, who presided, said he did not object to the Church of Rome legislating in its own sphere for the guidance of its own members, but he strenuously protested against, the Papacy imposing laws on Protestants, The meeting resolved that the decree in a community like Ireland's would increase the cleavage between Protestants and Catholics. Irish Unionist Commoners have been requested to move anent the amendment to the address at the opening of Parliament.
