AUSTRALIAN WINE IMPORTS DECREASING. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright, Received 7, 1.5 a.m. Melbourne, January 0. The Minister of Customs, interviewed the. Hon. Geo. Fowlds, Minister of the New Zealand Cabinet, regarding Customs administration as between the two countries, and also regarding reciprocal trade. He drew special attention to complaints by some of the Federal members during last session that the treaty between South Africa and New Zealand was giving a decided preference to South African wines, and imports from Australia had fallen in the last three years from 66,000 gallons to 51,000, whilst the imports from South Africa had increased from practically nil to 17,000 gallons. Mr. Fowlds promised that the matter would have consideration later.
