"SAVE YOUR BABIES."

SIR GEORGE REID INTERVIEWED. THE COLONIAL NATIONAL DEBTS EXPLAINED. By Cable—Press Association—-Copyright. Received 1, 9.10 p.m. London, Xovember 1. The Daily Express publishes an interview with Sir George Reid, who said he had observed the reckless disregard of infant mortality in the large cities of the world. He would say to the people of England, "Save your babies; they are Imperial babies." The tide of emigration was insufficient. The leakage through America should be stemmed, for the colonies wanted all. "The average Englishman,"' he continued, "helplessly misunderstands Australian finance. He is unable to comprehend the national debt,, for he does not realise that the Governments are landlords expending money in developing the country. If they sold the railroads alone they could wipe out that debt."
