Lord Islington was welcomed aboard the Macedonia by the New Zeaiiumers' Association of New South Wales and presented with an address welcoming him to the lands under the Southern Cross, and expressing their congratulations on his iijipoiniment as 'Governor of the Dominion.

The address added: '-Our welcome is but the forerunner of that wider one that awaits your Lordship on reaching our native land. We trust your residence in the Dominion will prove a happy one to yourself and Lady Islington, as well as for the Mibjeets of Jlis Majesty over whom you are called upon to rule." Lord Islington, in reply, thanked th« Association for Mie congratulations, saying he highly appreciated the courtesy extended to him and Lady Islington, anil he was looking forward'to his sojourn in New Zealand, and anticipated a pleasant residence among the loyal inhabitants of that beautiful part of His Majesty's dominions.
