CANADIAN RAILWAY MEN

SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE IN WAGES DEMANDED. FAILURE OF CONCILIATION. By Cable —Press Association —Copyright. Received June 16, 9.15 p.m. Ottawa, June 16. The Board of Conciliation failed to adjust the difficulties due to the Grand Trunk Railway employees' demand for an increase of 40 per cent, on their wages, as well as a similar demand of the Canadian-Pacific employees for a £3 per cent. rise.

The latter company is prepared to grant the employees the greater part of the increase, but the Grand Trunk Company is unable to afford it, and suggests a gradual increase until the wages equal those paid by the Canadian-Pacific.
