The Rosamond arrived yesterday morning from Wellington, Picton and Nelson, with 106 tons of cargo, including 125 sacks of chaff, 101 cases of kerosene, 50 sacks of malt, and transhipments ex Arawa (from London), Drayton Grange (West of England), Ulimaroa (Hobart jind Melbourne), and l coastal steamers. The Rosamond got away for Onehunga at 3 p.m. ; '"' THE RARAWA. The Rarawa left Onehiunga about 2 p.m. yesterday and should arrive here early this morning. She will leave again for Onehunga after the arrival of the mail train this evening. GERTIE DUE TO-DAY. The coastal steamer Gertie is due to arrive about 1 p.m. to-day from Westport. She will have about 200 tons of coal to discharge here. The Putiki was detained in port on Wednesday night and was unable to leave for Westport till yesterday morning. A recording buoy, invented 'by Mr. E. H. W. Grosser, of Melbourne, is designed to be released automatically from the bridge decik if a vessel sinks, and a wire holds it on the water's surface over the ■wreck. The buoy is intended to show the location and depth of the wreck, date of disaster, and the course and the port sought at the time of disaster.
