HORRIBLE SCENES. SEVENTY INTOXICATED MEN DROWNED. DREADFUL FATE OF VILLAGERS. BERLIN FLOODED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received June 16, 9.15 p.m. Berlin, June 16. There were horrible scenes in the flooded valley of the river Ahr. Italian and Croatian railway laborers refused to listen to the warnings of canteen keepers, when the latter fled at the approach of the torrent. The laborers seized wine and spirits, and seventy intoxicated men were drowned. A number of villagers failed to reach the hills, and took refuge in trees, which were torn up, the people being drowned. It is estimated that at least 300 were drowned in the Ahr Valley. Four hundred visitors are cut off at Oberammergau. Many thoroughfares in South-West Berlin arc flooded from three to six feet deep. HALF A TOWN SWEPT AWAY. HUNDREDS DROWNED. ' Received June 16, 9.15 p.m. Constantinople, June 16. Great floods have occurred in the Hassankaleh, in the Erzerum province. A wall of water swept away half of the town, and, hundreds were drowned. SEVERAL TOWNS SUBMERGED. Belgrade, June 15. Torrential rains in Servia devastated the valley of the river Morava. The towns of Tchonpria, Yagodina, and Swilajnatz were submerged, and 35 persons were drowned.
