By Cable— Press Association—Copyright Brisbane, June 16. i A tragedy occurred in a street in the centre of Rockhampton, when in ttbe presence of a large number of peopb, assembling for the school prize day, a well-known amateur jockey named Davis fired a revolver at a man named Hett, who was standing talking to some friends in a buggy. Davis then went up to the buggy, fired a shot at the back of Miss Emily Salisbury, aged twenty-three. He rushed round to the front of the trap, and fired two more shots at the girl's breast, killing her. . Detective Seymour rushed at Davis, Who attempted to fire on the officer, tout his weapon missed fire, and he was arrested. Hett was badly wounded. Jealousy is supposed to have been the cause of the crime.
