DISTRICT NEWS.
LINCOLN ROAD. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Although we have had a considerable amount of rain lately, the settlers in this district are enjoying the benefit of good roads, which has not been the case in years gone by. •Mr. J. Glassford has sold, at a satisfactory figure, one of his sections at the corner of Richmond, and Lincoln roads, to Mr. J. Griffiths, of Richmond road. I heard last week that Mr.. F. Y. Andrews had also sold out, and Jhat we are likely to lose him. .TJijs district can ill afford to lose such a staunch settler as Mr. Andrews has pipved himself. ( The householders here are indignant at the result of the School Committee's efforts to get a new teacher's residence erected here. It seems very inconsistent that, to a profession from which so much is expected, so very little encouragement is given by the powers that be. Mr. H. J. M. Thompson? has effected considerable improvements (to his farrfi, and where once logs and blackberries flourished are to be now sepn beautifully green paddocks. • ij There has been an epidemic of severe colds, or influenza, going- the rounds pf this district. • i " ■- f.
