SNOW WEATHER IN CANTERBURY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christcihurch, Wednesday. Reports from the back country state that snowy weather is prevalent. Heavy rain fell in the city last night, and this morning is very cold.
DISTRICT NURSES. Wellington, Wednesday. During the past fortnight a committee, organised and led by Mesdames Rhodes, Corrigan, and W. B. Fisher and Mr. Troup, have canvassed the city for the St. John Ambulance Society, and obtained £IOOO. This amount is allocated for nursing sick poor, and together with £OOOO already invested will provide sufficient income for two professional district nurses for all time.
EARTHQUAKES AT ROTORUA. Rotorua, Wednesday. Between 16 and 21 distinct earthquakes were felt this morning between 5 and 6.30. Each was accompanied by a low rumbling noise. Many of the visitors were much alarmed.! Shocks, somewhat similar, were experienced about 9ix years ago. No damage was done.
