FATALITY ABOARD A BOAT.

Charles Matheson, a seaman 011 the Eclmnga, was assisting to put tne thatches on the vessel this afternoon, when the thwart beam struck him and knocked him down into the empty hold, a fall of 25 feet. He was picked up seriously injured, and died in the casualty ward shortly afterwards. Just 'before the fatality, Harold Blair, the mate of the vessel, was struck by the beam, and his leg was severely injured. WASHED ASHORE. Invercaiigill, Last Night.
The body cast iashore at Sandy Point bears letters suggesting that the name is Findlay S. Murehison, of Waikaia. The features are unrecognisable. Enquiries are being! made at Waikaia. A FATAL FALL. Invercargill, Last Night. On Tuesday afternoon, near Lome, a farm man named Thomas Jamieson was seen to fall from a dray. He was picked uip, but died on his way to the hospital.' A LAD SERIOUSLY INJURED. Christchurch, Last Night. A lad na,med Higgs was run into by, a tramcar in Worcester street to-night,l and seriously injured, mainly aibout the head. He attempted to cross in front of the New Brighton car, and was caught by the back fender, 'Which the conductor * dropped when lie saw the lad in danger.
