MEETING OF CABINET.
WORKS AUTHORISED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Cabinet to-day decided to invite tender* for the construction of a p&nsenger and cargo steamer, capable of carrying 1400 passengers, for the Lake Wakatipu service. Tenders were accepted for the following works: Construction of Napier-Taupo road, erection of bridges over the Tangarakau (Wanganui) and Mokau rivers, erection of post oHices at St. Kilda (Dunedin), Westport and Waimnfe (Canterbury). The purchase of railway material to the value of £35,000 was authorised.
