TARANAKI POULTRY SOCIETY.

THE COMING SHOW 7 . Despite predictions to the contrary, the Taranaki Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Society is receiving a ready and liberal support for the forthcoming show, and the committee is being spurred to greater endeavor. This year's show promises to bring together big classes of poultry, ipigeons and cage birds, whilst there is no doubt that the children's pets will again be a big feature. Last year this section included guieapigs, cats, kittens, poodles, a lamb, a bantam, some cage birds, and so on. The committee will be glad to see a big entry again. Entry is free, and the "pets' corner" is a very popular one with the children. The cookery section last year was another popular part of the show, and there was keen competition. Good prizes are offered. Technical school entries are all free of charge, and there is a prize for every class.

The secretary last night received a special prize of five shillings for the best two boiled potatoes exhibited by a technical school student. In a day when the fancy side of the culinary art attracts most attention at shows, this competition is a little bit novel.-

At a meeting of the Society's committee on Monday evening Mr. J. M. Thomson. of Auckland, was appointed judge of the poultry and canaries, and ..xr. Chris. Jolnvson, of Huiroa, judge of nigeons. Mr. A. T. Moore will judge the dogs. Mr. Boplten the pot plants, and Messrs. Joe West and Percy Lealand the cookery classes. The judges tor ihe technical and primary school work are yet to be arranged. Mr. Hobbs reported having visited Ha'wera, Stratford and Inglewood on Monday, and that he had been promised liberal support in each town.

The baby show is creating a deal of fun and amusement, and large entries are expected from all over the district. A committee has been appointed to canvass for special prizes, and the public will be waited on during the next few days.

A great deal of interest is being taken in the amateur photography section in connection with the show, and a large number of inquiries are coming in from all quarters. In response to numerous applications, an animal and bird class has ,been added to the schedule. Entries for all sections other than poultry will close with the secretary on July 12.
