METAL QUOTATIONS. By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright London, March 1. | Copper, spot, £59 10s; three months, I £6O 7s 6d. Tin, spot, £l4B 17s Cd; three months', £l5O 7s 6d. Lead, £l3 ss. Silver, 23 3-16 d. Shares unchanged. i DAIRY PRODUCE REPORT. Messrs. E. Griffiths and Co., New Plymouth, are in receipt of the following market report from their London principals, Messrs. Mills and Sparrow, dated 21st January, 1910: BUTTER. During the week trade has' been very good, in spite of the general election, which is aow occupying most people's minds. Danish: The quotation is one kroner up; this is an inclusion of the overprice that Is paid to some of the best dairies. French: The shortage continues, and prices' have again been advanced; needless to say, the trade is now in very small compass. Australian: The s.s. Mongolia arrived in good time, and her cargo turned out in fine "order. It is satisfactory to note that tne quality continues up to tne best standard. The demand has' been very good indeed, and. as we anticipated, superfine brands at the commencement of the week commanded Is to 2s more than last, but as the week progressed the market developed greater strength, with the result that first and second grades have cleared up at almost the same prices as superfine, and this means that sellers will naturally ask more money next week for finest brands. It is pleasing to see that all factories which regularly adopt the consignment policy continue to do considerably better than those that sell. New Zealand: The s.s'. lonic was rather late, and although she got in on the 16th instant none of her butters were landed until yesterday, and then only a very few. The delay is causing buyers great inconvenience, as they naturally depended on getting this butter several days ago. The demand is keen, and there is no doubt the •butters will clear as s'oon as landed. Argentine: This butter has shared in the improved demand this week, and at the close is well cleared, prices being about 2s higher. CHEESE. uamauin: qiocks are now ratner small, and it is difficult to find really finest quality. i\ew z<eaLanci: iraae nas conunuea to improve, and good business has been done. Colored now is almost the .same price as wiute, mere uemg a. rather less proportion of the former now offering. Quotations are about Is higher on white and Is to 2s on colored.
