WELLINGTON HARBOR BOARD.

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE COMMENT RESENTED. Per Press Association. | Wellington, List Night. At the Harbor Board's meeting this afternoon a resolution was received from the Palincrston North Chamber of

Commerce expressing regret at Mr, Ferguson's resignation of his position as engineer and secretary. Mr. R. Fletcher rose to protest against the action of the I'almerston body in practically casting an aspersion upon certain members of the Board. The chairman (the Hon. T. K. Macdonald) said that it was no wonder Hie Milliliter for Marine was leaving Chambers of Commerce out of the persound of Harbor Boards and preventing them from having any controlling power. They bad only themselves to blame. The Palmerston Chamber's action was a sample of the conduct that justified the Minister's attitude. Mr. Shikcliffe (who represents the Weiuigton Chamber on the Board) appeared eager to make a statement, but the chairman ruled that there was nothing before the Board. Eventually Mr. G. Fraser moved that the I'almerston Chamber's resolution should be recorded on the minutes. After consulting the rule-book, Mr. Macdonald decreed that Mr. Fraser must give notice of motion. The topic was then dropped. Subsequently, Mr. Shirtclill'e again rose, but Mr. Macdonald said that he would not allow the question to be further debated to-day.
