FIRES.

Per Press Association. Stratford, November 4. A six-roomed house in Regan street, owned by F. Smyth Pollock, and occupied by S. Tovatt, was destroyed by fire early this morning. The occupants barely escaped. Nothing was saved. The building was insured for £BOO in the State Office and the furniture for £l5O in the United.

Waipawa, Novcmbor'4. The Tavistock Hotel at Waipukurau was destroyed by fire last night. The building was insured in the New Zealand Office for £3200.
