Dandy is still a firm favourite at 100 to 16. Auld Lang Syne and Alinga were well supported at 100 to 7. Ampere advanced to 100! to 6, at which price Reviver was also quoted. Sequence went back to 100 to 3, and Acatine to 100 to 2. A BOOKMAKER'S ESTATE. Heceivod 5, 1.10 a.m. Melbourne, September 4. The estate of the late Alfred Joseph, the Victorian bookmaker who recently died in London, has been sworn for probate at £71,800. WELLINGTON RACING CLUB'S PROGRAMME. 'Wellington, September 4. The Wellington Racing Club has decided that the Summer Meeting be extended over three days, the 22nd, 24th, mi 26fch January; the Wellington ;Uup to be-650 sovs., less 100 sovs. and 50 sovs. for second and third horses The principal race of tbe third day will be the Port Nicholson Handicap, of 390 sovs. It was decided that in future stakes be paid in full instead of less 6 per cent. At tne Spring Meeting two hurdle racei are to be substituted for the two-year-old-events. APPOINTMENT OF A HANDICAPPER. Dusedin, September 4. At a masting of the committee of the Dunedin Jockey Olub, eleven applications were received for the position of handicappsr, and on a ballot Gejrge Dowse wos re-appointed, and H. Piper was appointed starter.
