FAILURE TO SETTLE DIFFICULTY.
Wellington, July 25\ A meeting of the Local Disputes (Committee was held to consider the stoppage of work on the waterfront, but failed to reach any finality, and handed the matter on to the National Disputes. Committee, which sat from about 3 to 4.15 p.m. After the meeting it was reported that the position was unaltered. The men's union still demanded the re^ movai of the Briton to the stream. A meeting of waterside workers will oe held at 8 a.m. to-morrow.
