Amongst the offerings were some really nice lines of fat I and forward wethers ana aged cattle. The pick of the yarding again went -to] j outside buyers. Prices "realised were as ; follows: — .
Sheep: Two-tooth ewes, 24s 9d to 25s 6d; mixed aged ewes (mostly young), 22s 6d to 245; cull two-tooth wethers, 14s to 19s 3d; good two-tooth wethers, 21s to 235; mixed ewes and wethers, 20s 6d to 225; forward fouz;-tooth wethers, 255, 25s 6d, to 265; fat ewes (medium weights), 25s 6d; lighter softs, 22s to 245; aged ewes, 16s; a line of 120 fat and forward wethers ex Matakitaki Station, 265. ... Cattle: ALixed yearlings}' £4 los to £5; yearling steers, £5 5s to £5 9s 6d ; mixed weaners, £2 to £2 17s 6d; cull two-year steers, £4 14s 6d; fair twoyear steers, £S 10s, others £5 los; breeding cows and heifers, £5 17s 6d; empty cows, £6 to £6 10s; fat heifers, £10 2s 6d; 18-month dairy lieifers, £0 ss; cows and calves (aged). £6; two and a half-year steers, £9 !0s; a line of 21 forward bullocks on account of J. At Takaka- on the 24th we had a full yarding of sheep and a fair entry of cattle. The latter chiefly comprised poor quality weaners, for which: owners' ideas of value were too high to permit of business being done. Any good weaners sold at full market rates. The sheep were again a good lot, amongst the offerings being some good pen.v of wethers and lambs, the latter being practically all sec.red for Canterbury. We quote:—
Sheep: Aged raws, ,21s; aged ewes, 12s to 16s; M.A. ewes, 20s to 225; twotooth ewes (medium), 23s' Gd; good forward lambs, 16s, 16s 9d to 17s; others, 13s 3d, 13s 6d to 14s: ewe lambs, 16s J6d ; cull lambs, 6s 3d ; fat wethers, 27,s : lighter sorts, 25s 6d to 265; fa;t ewes (medium weights), 24s 6d; lighter, 22s to 235; store wethers, 225, 22s 6d to 235; a line of 150 two-tooth wethers j on account of E.
