Washington, Jan. 27. President Wilson has issued a proclamation asking Americans to reduce their wheat consumption by 30 per cent., and to observe Mondays and Wednesdays as wkeatless days, Tuesdays as meatless and Saturdays as porkless days, and one vvheatless meal daily. Prqsident Wilson declared' that the sacrifice was necessary to meet a great, responsibility, as Europe's subsistencerests very largely on America's shoulders. Mr Hoover announced that bakers hereafter would make victory bread, which would not contain more than 80 per cent of wheat. He also announced Government purchases of 30 per cent, of the nation's flour output, totalling 3,000,000 bushels monthly, for exportation to the Allies.
