FACILITIES FOR EXPORT

DESIRED.

Wellington, Jan. 25. A deputation of fruitgrowers waited on the Prime Minister to-day in reference to obtaining facilities for the export of apples.. The deputation stated that; the crop was; looking particularly well, in fact, better than for the past three years, and there v.-as expectei to be a surplus for export if shipping space -were provided.

Mr Massey said he would communicate with the Imperial authorities and fiEcertam if there was a possibility of making arrangements for the surplus to bo forwarded to the English market or any other market available. Hoarding the question of increased railway freight, the Premier said that the Minister of Railways was indisposed, but! when he was about again, he would confer with him on the subject.
