ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Upper Moutere Road Board was held on August 25th, when all the members were present, and' Mr A. Bensemann occupied the chair. The ■chairman ■'reported on the interview with Messrs. Drogemuiler Bros., stating that the board had agreed to the exchange of roads through section 188, Rising, Sun Valley; also that, after inspecting I>rogemuller road, one day extra had.Seen granted for repairs. Accounts totalling £14 17s 3d were passed for payment. It was resolved that the Board meet Mr Hallam on the proposed new road through the Broadlands estate.', A memorandum was read from Mr C. A. Henderson, regarding his account to'the" "board*having, boen returned as inporrect., Mr Henderson was called in, and he crave his version of the matter. Mr Henderson being under fhe impression that a slur had been cast on his character, the board assured him that this was not the case, as. the account had been returned only because the board's rate of pay was 2s per day less than Mr Henderson had charged for in his account. Mr Henderson accepted the board's explanation. A memorandum from the Receiver of Land Revenue informed the board that the sum of 12s 9d, being amount of thirds accrued, had been placed to the board's credit in the Bank of $ew Zealand, Nelson. —Received. A memorandum was read from the Moutere Amalgamated Fruit Lands, j Ltd., agreeing to suascribe to the amount of.£s £ for £ for improving hiTI on Apple Valley road.—Resolved, that the letter he acknowledged. It was resolved that the. chairman j nnd the secretary look up the matter of subsidies, arid forward accounts where required.' ' Mr Perry (Neudorf) wrote asking that a ditch adjoining his property be cleaned, as storm-water was damaging his property^—Resolved, that the cHairman arrange to get the' ditch cleaned. A plan of xhe proposed new road through section 188. Rising Sun Valley, was received.from Mr Ledger, surveyor, for the board's signature.-—Resolvef 1, that the plan:lie"signed and the board's ■senl.affixed. •. ' ;, ■ " . ; The following: works were authorised: Two days' work on Kelling's road; three days' work on Deepdale road; throe days' patching on Supplejack Valley road; one day's patching on Neudorf road; and two days' work on Nile road (Bronte), cleaning watertables.
