WAR EXPENDITURE.

Auckland, Dec. 21. A sum of £12,708,108 had been expended by New Zealand in connection with the war up to October 31st last. In giving a statement on the subject to- day j the Acting-Prime Minister stated^ that the sum named did not include interest and sinking fund on war loans, nor war pensions, all of which items were paid out of the Cosolidat'ed Fund, nor did it include some adjustments which the New Zealand Government might y^et have to make with the Imperial Government. Thes'i might amount to £2,000.000 or more. Of the total of £12,708,108, th» expenditure for war purposes totals £12.637,533 Ts lOd, the. balance comprising £5,438 38s 7d Belgium relief, £236 10s New Zealand relief, and £20.000 under the Appropriation Act, 1914. i The total cost to New 7ealand of the militaiy occupation of Samoa to No-! vember 30th last was £291,780 11s Id.
