SUBURBAN NORTH ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Suburr ban North Road Board was held on Friday at the Hall. Present: Messrs W. H. Alborough (chairman), A. Dodson, J. Corder, T. W. Anderson, E. W. Frost, and E. J. Packer. Accounts were passed for payment amounting to £61 15s 9d. Correspondence was read from Messrs W. Rout and Sons as to renewal of insurance and estimated amount of wages; and from the Riwaka Road Board regarding the subsidy recoiyed from the Waimea County, ' and asking the Board's opinion on same. The Inspector reported as follows on work completed during tho month:— The bridge on the Cable Bay road is completed; it cost "£3B 18s 3d. The Cable road has been cleared fitter the road machine. 1 have had the bank on the-road up to Gill's lowered and the hollow in the road filled up. I 'have had a few days' work done on the Teal road and the Wangamoa road. The term of the daymen will expire at the next meeting of the" Board in November. Mr Thomas Neal has asked for permission to remove the iron which is padlocked to the fence by the Board's instructions.

Resolutions were passed as follows:— That this Board, while sympathising with those Boards who find the subsidy paid by .the County Council inadequate, finds that the present subsidy is sufficient lo pay all demands made on tho Board and have a fair credit balance at the end of the year.

That fresh applications be invited for daymen and one and two horse teams for twelve, months.

That the Overseer take the padlock off the native gate and return the luck to Mr P. B. Adams.
