AUSTRALIA.

DOMINIONS AND WAR FINANCE

EXPORTS TO THE SOUTH SEAS

Sydney, Oct. 5. The "Telegraph,/' in a leader on "Financing the War," says that Canada will probably face an expenditure ofthirty millions, Australia twenty ■millions or more, and New Zealand; say, ten millions. This, besides^ India, South Africa, and other possessions may involve a hundred millions. Though the colonies will undertake to face liability, they could hardly find the money un--1 assisted ;• but probably it will be- found that the British Government will come to the assistance of the Dominions with war loans. Permission has been given for the exportation of normal quantities of sugar, meat, wheat, and flour for the South Sea Islands, including the New Hebrides and Papua.
