WORK AND WAGES.
BRITISH RAILWAYMEN'S
DEMANDS.
AMALGAMATION OF UNIONS
London, April 27
Mr. .T. H. Thomas, M.P., at a railwaymen's meeting at Preston, in supporting a motion in favour of an eight hours day, and a minimum wage of thirty shillings, with a pro rata advance to those over that amount, said that the amalgamation was.-not intended as a declaration of war or a challenge, but was merely an inevitable step in the development of capital and labour. The capitalist combination necessitated labour concentration.
