London, April 27. The death is announced of Sir George Doughty, M.P.

Sir George Doughty, son of the late Mr. William Doughty, Grimsby, was born in 1854, and educated at the Wesleyan Higher Grade School. Sir George was a merchant and, shipowner, a J.P., and was twice-Mayor of Grimsby. In the session of 1898 he turned from "a Liberal to Liberal Unionist, .and went, to his,constituents, who, however;,feelected h'irri. "by/a majority of some 1800----votes.
