PRESIDENT'S APPEAL TO MR

ROCKEFELLER.

Washington, April 27

President Wilson appealed to Mr. J. D. Rockefeller, the -largest owner of the Colorado mines, where fighting ia still proceeding, to attempt to restore peace, as the President is unable to despatch any troops to the strike area owijng to the Mexican trouble. Half a million miners in lowa threaten to strike- unless a settlement is effected.
