Wellington, Feb. 13. Thomas Henry Johnston, who bolted from the asylum at Avondale six weeks ago, and! concerning whose sanity there haV'beeri much discussion, returned to Auckland voluntarily to-day, and was met by the superintendent of the mental hospital. The intention of the authorities is unknown, but it appears that Johnston is not going back to tho mental hospital at present. Later. Johnson lias been released for a period not exceeding 28 days. Under tho Act if by that time lie gets two doctors to testify to his sanity, ho will be unr conditionally released.
