THEATRE ROYAL PERMANENT PICTURES.
"THE SERGEANT'S DAUGHTER."
The large audience which attended the Theatre Roj'al last night witnessed one of the 'best selections of cinematograph fi'ms yet presented'by the management. The star film, "the Sergeant's Daughter," is some 3,000 feet in length full of stirring and sensational passages, really a photo-play of intense interest, with a well arranged plot, and a happy termination. "Flaming Arrows," a sensational Indian cowboy drama teeming with exciting incidents, was much enjoyed by the audience. "The Fatal Trap Door," by the Cines Company ■■■ proved of an unusually exciting nature. "Angry Nature" depicted Mt. Etna, the great volcano, whilst in active eruption-. "Hindoo Chinese Rejoicings," and "A Trip to Kalbrya," were two beautiful scenic items that found special favour with the audience. "A Modern Yarn," "Baby's Adventures," and "Mr. and Mrs. Patapan Wish to See the Eclipse," kept the'audience in shrieks of laughter. Realistic mechanical effects, cleverly worked, added additional realism to the various pictures, whilst the popular selections by the first class orchestra formed a pleasing feature of the performance. At the matinee on Saturday another complete change will bo given.
