At the Magistrate's Court yesterday before Mr. R. S. Florance, S.M., a number of civil cases were called upon and either adjourned or struck out. In a judgment summons case-, no order was made against August Malorney for a debt of 12s Gd owing to Horatio Hall, the judgment debtor stating that lie had been out of work since Easter. Mr J. P. In tho Supreme Court in Chambers, on Monday, on the motion of Mr. E. V. Moore, as counsel for the executor m the estate of 11. Ohing, deceased, of Stoke, His Honour Mr Justice Chapman, mado an order, under the Administration Act of 1911, barring certain claims upon the estate of the deceased.

A deputation from the Nelson ifc-auti-fj^ng Society, consisting of the president (Mr. Percy Adams) and Mr. R. B. Jackson (vice-president) waited on Mr. Thos. Cawthron in reference to the formation of the drive along Britannia Heights. Mr. Cawthron displayed a great interest in the proposal, '.id expressed sympathy with the desires of Messrs.- Adams and Jackson to see a drive formed. Mir. Cawthron -equested that an estimate of the cost of the proposed drive be prepared by the City Engineer (Mr. J. G. Littlejohn).

At the instance of . Mr Thos. Cawthron, who generously offered to defray tho cost, the Nelson City Council recently called for tenders for the construction r;'i si>;irajx?ts and chains on a ~Tt;<Ki of the Rocks Road, Nolson. Ti?o Tity Council have now decided to takr- ver tho contract, and Mr. Cawthi has forwarded his cheque for €4"-' 10s to cover the cost. The Coun':l have accepted the tender of the Anchor Foundry for £250 for the supply of iron standards, and that of T. Gnmmett, for £209 10s for tho concrete work.
