GENERAL BORROWING SCHEME.
RAILWAYS TO BE INCLUDED. Auckland, April 25. Replying to a deputation asking for £12,000 for additions and general improvements to the Museum, the Premier promises a £ for £ subsidy on £681 contributed by the public. Reply to a request for railway extension to Waiuku, the Premier said that Auckland had a good share of loan money last .year. There were many parts of New Zealand worso off than Waiuku. Unless the country decided for tho constructien of these ■ branch railways he did not think they, would go on. However, he had no hesitation in saying that if the country was willing he was quite prepared to undertake public works of this nature. "I am for progress, and so are my colleagues, the Premier declared. He informed, the deputation that their railway scheme Avould be included, among many others, in his general borrowing scheme.
