STOKE SCHOOL,
CONCERT AND PRESENTATION
OF PRIZES,
j The concert in connection with the j. Stoke School was repeated 'on Friday I eveuing last, when trie hall was again , full.- 'The programme of the previous ! week was again gone through with f much success, while additional items by the children of the Tatahi side school added to the enjoyment of the evening.' Mr W. Lock, a member. of the Education Board, presided, and during the -evening presented prizes for 1 regular attendance at the ■ schools, and also a number of good attendance coi-tificates. Before doing so; Mr Lack addressed the gathering, pointing out the. great value of education," and mentioning what he had seen of the systems of. education in the various countries he had visited duringhis travels. He also congratulated the teachers and people 011 the high- position now taken "by the Sfeke, sdhool in the scholastic world.
Prizes as follows 'were presented for regular attendance : — Girls : R.nby Leach, 7 Ivy Ching, Elva Wells, Viva Cliiug, Nellie Ailport, Flossie Ching, Levinia Kenning. Boys: V. Biggar, H. Kenning, B. Hall, R. Ching, W. Biggar, E. Black, D". Black, J. Biddie/ V. Wakefield.
Good attendance certificates for past three years. — First "class : E. Black and V. Biggar (3 years), D. Black and J. Biddle (2 years-), Ivy Clriug, Z. Homann, Elva Wells, R. Leach, and Levinia Kenning (1 year). Second class: E. Langbein,. Tlieo. Langbein, J. Giblin, R. Langbein, Nellie Ailport', E. Ching, D. Ching, I, Ching, W .Giblin, V. Wakefield, B.'Hall, R. Ching, J. Biddle, -W. Biggar, F. Jellyman, and H. Keiiriirig.
Agricultural Show scliool exhibits, — -Cookery prizes : Ana Langridge, F. Jellyman,- and Vera Ohing. Sewing prizes. — Gladys Heath, L. Sparrow.
'Special prizes in connection with the school exhibit at the show were also presented by Mr Wilmot. to EricBlack, O. Stone, J. Holtham, L. Gir>£ lin,. and D.- Black, for various collec-' tioiis.
Before the meeting dispersed, Mr W.^Keiining, chairman of the School Committee, thanked the staff of the schools and children for the very successful entertainment given, and also Mr; Lock, for presiding.
