THE INSURANCES ON THE TIMARU FIRE.
Timaru, B'ebruary €. The insurances on the Canterbury Farmers' Un-operative Store, burnt down last night, total £56,620, dis tributed as follows :— On the building, £4000 in the Farmers' Insur ancer Chriatchuroh ; South British, £7000. Furniture and fittings, £1500 in the North Queensland: £120 in the Farmers' Insurance, Ohristehurcb. Stock, Royal £8000: Farmers' Insurance- Christchurch, £2000; National, £2500; Norwich Union, JE2000: Phoenix, £4000: Alliance, £8000 '•; Standard. £1500; Royal Exchange, £4500; Nortnern Asauraace, £4000; New Zealand Insurance, £6500 ; North British, £1000.; The total damage is estimated -"{ft;. £70,000. The Canterbury Farmers' Co operative Association purchased fresb^stocfes last night, and business was proceeding to-day in'anofeher sa! of buildings possessed by the Association close to the building destroyed by fire. The chairman of tbe directors states that the less to the Association will be small, as the insurances will nearly covor £the ; damages.
