GOOD TEMPLAR LODGE ANNIVERSARY.

On Jan. 17 the Loyal Nelson Good Templar Lodge celebrated its thirtyfourth anniversary. The members of the .Nelson Citizens' Band played a number of excellent selections putside the Foresters' Hall prior to the commencement of tbe programme. Theft kind action was greatly appreciated by the members of the Lodge. Bro. R. Sinclair, the Chief Templar, ably presided. The attendance of the' public was large, and extra seats had to be procured. Tne programme waa a miscellaneous one, and ea<*b item waa good. Songs were contributed by Misses Richards and Smith and Mr Taylor; a duet by Misses Burt: recitations by Misses Griffiths, G. Jennings, and Fuller, and Mr Lang ; a ,glee by three members of the Church of Christ Choir; musical items (piano and violin) by Misses Joyce; and a dialogue by a number of 'young ladies from the Church of Christ: Mr W. T. Bond (who is the only remaining Charter member of the Lodge), spoke of the starting of tbe Lodge, and tne aims of the good men and women who instituted the Order, and based it upon tne Fatherhood of God, and the Brotherhood of Man. Several of the items were enthusiastically encored, notably Miss Richards' song, Miss Griflitbs' recitation, and . tbe Glee party's contribution, while the capital dialogue was received with much applause. The Chief Templar, on behalf of .the Lodge, thanked the f fiends who had contributed to thp programme, and the Nelson Citizens' Band for their music; and ne gave a cordial invitation to any person desirous of joining the Lodge. The proceedings ! were closed with the usual Lodge | ode and prayer. Miss C. Watson rendered good service as accompanyist.
