Dannevirke, February 5. Councillors obtained the opinion of Mr Martin, solicitor to the Municipal Association, on the muuicipal deadlock, and read it at the Council meeting iast night: but the Mayor considered that it favored his line of action on all points in regard to road construction. The deadlock continues, and the men have been discharged, us the Council' will not pass accounts. Notice nas been given, in the Chamber ofUommerce to ask the Ciovernnient to introduce legislation defining the power of a Mayor in order to prevent such incidents.
