Capetown, August 13. Mr E. H. Walton, Treasurer, has delivered his Budget for 1907^ showing a deficit of £640,000. It is estimated that the 1908 expenditure, will reach £8,073,000, and the revenue £7,765,000. The Treasurer an* nounced retrenchments in the Civil. Servioe, and an increase in the tax on incomes above £10,000. He also .^ notified the intended establishment * of an official Department 7 td promote South African j .industries ~ j -as , against imported goods. ; « ;,.
