GOOD TEMPLARS' SOCIAL.
The re-union social, under the auspices of the Loyal Nelson Lodge, No. 31, held in tho Foresters' Hal] last night wes largely attended. Bro. 3eon?n Hinton, iuninr, tho Chiei Templar, presided. The Chairmen extended a hearty welcome to all ■ present. Musical selections were contributed by Mr Warne, piano; Mi Moody, banjo (encored); and the Chairman, violin. Songs were given by Miss Richards, Mr Taylor, and Mr Muncaster. Short; addresses were ersven by Mrs Duncan, Mr W. T. Bond, Mr R. Watson, Rev. John Crump, and Mr J. J. Franklyn. It was noted that since that Lodge had benn instituted sixteen hundred and sixty-four weekly meetings had been held, and a largo number^'ol" members bad beeii initiated, many of whom were scattered about New Zealand, and other parts of the world. Refer- , eoce was made to the new venture ol' the Lodge, in forming and starting the Temperance Social Club gin Trafalgar street, the membership ol' which is to comprise active, associate, and honorary mom bora. As s'lowin* the International character oi th'u Order, it was stated that a Swedish doctor, who was also a member of Parliament in Sweden, is at present afi tho head of the Order, and a hope was expressed that ere lorn.": tho International and head gathering of the Order would-be hold on this side of the globe, and that New Zealand would ho chosen for same, A cordial welcome to past and non-members was given to join rho Lodge. The sißters provided an nbundanoo nf refreshments. On the motion of Mr Sinclair, seconded by Mr J. C. M. Karsten, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded by acclamation to all vlio hflpod to make tho social a success.
