THE TADMOR RAILWAY.
' — — GREATER CONSIDERATION DEMANDED. ! j PUBLIC MEETING. A public meeting, called by Mr S. T. Mofiitt, Chairman of the local branch of the Farmers' Union, was held in the Tadmor Hall on Saturday j evening. I Mr Harry Phillips was voted to the chair, and in v short and pithy speech referred to the objects of tho j meeting, viz., to make suggestions for a timetable which would give the country residents a better opportunity of v.sing the railway. He expressed his pleasure at seeing .so representative a meeting, residents from all the surrounding districts boing present. Mr Moflitt stated his reasons for calling the meeting. lie understood that it was the intention of tho De- j partment to run the Tadraor .section from Belgrove as at present, running the train back to Belgrove on Tuesday and Friday evenings and have no early train from Tadraor. Flo moved : "That it having been circulated that it ia the intention of , the Railway Department to work this line from Belgrove aa at present, which is moat inconveinent for this portion of the district. Such being tho case, this meeting strongly protests, and would respectfully request the Department to reconsider the matter, and give this district tho full benefit of the line, and run a daily train from Tadmor not later than seven o'clock in the morning, and returning in the evening, leaving Nelson at about 4.30, the late train on Saturday night to come right through. This resolution was seconded by Mr T. Hodgkinson, who spoke strongly about the disadvantages the country people laboured under, and the scant courtesy they received from j the Railway Department. ! Messrs G. Macrnahon and T. McCarthy also spoke in'favor of the resolution, which was carried unanimously. It was resolved to send a copy to the Minister of Railways.
