INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION.
Christchurch February 10, Qhe Government has granted £500 for Sir J. G. Ward, while in Italy, to procure statuary to be placed in the Grand Hall of the Exhibi ion. Sir J. G. Ward will also endeavor to secure the loan of some statuary. Space has been applied for a very fine collection of pictures from South Africa, The Tourist Department hos applied for sixteen hundred feet of space for photographs, paintings, and sporting trophies. A large collection of native timbers, stone and other building materials will be exhibited. A model will be exhibited showing the projected (tunnel at Arthur's Pass, on the Midland railway. The Government will have erected on the Exhibition grounds a model of a Workman's Home, showing the up-to-date sanitaiy appliances. A Committee has been set up to arrange for a suitable design for the memorial Exhibition postage stamp. Motor cars, valued at fu'ly £20,000, will ie^xhibited, and the winner of the Gordon Bennett road race will visit the Exhibition. • A large party of English tourists are coming to the Exhibition. The Thames, February 16. With regard to the Exhibition to be held at Chvistchurch, •Mr O. Gore Adams, the Director of the School of Mines, has been appointed as the representative at the Thames. It is proposed that an' experiment v! battery and assaying plant be erected, and crushing and assaying be carried on at the Exhibition. Also to send a representative display of golden ores and minerals from the Thames district.
